The Canada Wolverines notched their second successive victory to open the 2013 test season with a convincing performance against a very tough and physical Jamaican side.
Over 5700 fans were treated to a 6 try haul from Canada in what was a magical night of Rugby League.
The home side was first to strike. Three minutes into the encounter crafty veteran hooker Chris Diamond broke the seal with a dummy scoot that fooled the Jamaican defensive line.
For Diamond it was his first try since scoring against Jamaica in last years Caribbean Carnival Cup.
Play was back and forth for the next few minutes before Jamaica conceded a penalty in front of the posts. Goal kicking wizard Steve Piatek made no mistake slotting home the two pointer to make it 8-0 to the home side.
Jamaica brought a level of toughness that was previously unseen in previous fixtures with Canada. This toughness paid off as 10 minutes later they opened their account.
Sheffield Eagles centre Corey Hanson went over in the corner to half the deficit. The game then began see sawing with both sides threatening but unable to break through.
Christian Miller was particularly effective on defence wearing down the Jamaicans with punishing tackles. It was only a matter of time before Canada would score again and they did.
Steve Piatek scoring his first International try finishing a period of dominant attacking play from Canada.
Piatek was at it again, this time turning provider as he and Matt Wyles started a quick flowing move that was finished by fullback Robin Legault who added to his Canadian international try record notching his 11th try in his 11th appearance for his country.
This made the score 20-6 Canada and that is how the first half finished.
The second half was more of the same from the Wolverines but it started brightly for the Reggae Warriors. Speedy winger Adrian Mckenzie opened the scoring 5 minutes after the restart to give the Jamaicans hope.
Canada however would not hang their heads or lose momentum, as they were next to cross the line when Brett King finished a flowing move in the corner, notching his first International try.
From one winger to another, ten minutes later it was Tony Felix who continued his impressive performances scoring for the second match in a row finishing in the corner for the Wolverines.
Robert Rodney then managed one more try for the Jamaicans before Geoff Bylund put the finishing touches on what was Canada's third successive Caribbean Carnival Cup victory when he scored in the corner at the stroke of full time.
Bylund's try along with Piatek's perfect kicking capped off a fantastic victory for Canada.
