The Malta Rugby League (MRL), formerly known as the Maltese Rugby
League Association (MRLA) was founded in Australia in 2004 with the
mission "to promote and develop Rugby League within the Maltese
community".

The MRL is the Official Governing Body of Maltese Rugby League and
oversees all Rugby League activity across the Maltese Islands.

Malta enjoys strong links with Australia and the United Kingdom. The
relationships that exist are also evident by the number of Maltese
players within the rugby league competitions across predominantly
Australia and England from amateur through to the elite professional
leagues.
