ALITALIA EUROPEAN CUP 2010
Having reverted to a four-team system for the first time since the 1950s, the 2010 European Cup proved a great success, with large crowds turning out to support France, the nominal ‘hosts’ of the tournament with three home matches.
The championship format culminated with pre-tournament favourites France taking on defending champions Wales in Albi.
The visitors edged a thrilling contest in front of the French sports minister, Miss Rama Yade, and a partisan capacity crowd, securing a sixth European Cup title and the added bonus of a berth in the 2011 Four Nations.
