PROFILE
DETAILS
Canada Rugby League was formed in 2010 and obtained Observer status of the RLEF that October. It revived interest in the sport that had been played sporadically in Canada in the past, but had lain dormant since 2000. CRL operates a bicameral Board structure. The Advisory Board contains no more than three members. Each member of the Advisory Board is subject to review and renewal annually and is chosen by the Executive Board. The exception to this is the representative of the Members Committee, which tables proposals made by CRL members. This gives the people of Canada the ability to have their say and put forward initiatives. The Advisory Board then votes on initiatives and once passed presents them to the Executive Board. The Executive Board contains a minimum of two members.
CRL, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, oversees the development of the Wolverines, Canada’s national team, as well as domestic, and grassroots initiatives in the country. Due to the sheer size of the country, the CRL is developing along regional lines, with Ontario and British Columbia active.
